IRVINS SALTED EGG PINEAPPLE TART - CNY SPECIALS!!

Salted egg everything is always good. Getting closer to Chinese New Year, a famous salted egg snack maker, Irvins Salted Egg, just released a CNY special, Salted Egg Pineapple Tart. Pineapple tart is very famous for its appearance every Chinese New Year but this pineapple tart with salted egg? Hmm.. Sounds interesting and mouthwatering.

This pineapple tart comes in two flavours: Original Salted Egg and Salted Egg with Hazelnut.

When I tried the tester for both flavours, I personally liked the Salted Egg with Hazelnut flavour so I decided to buy one box of those.

I am very particular about a packaging of a brand or a food. In my opinion, they did well for the packaging. They packed the pineapple tarts in a medium sized box which is very convenient to bring as a CNY gift for your family, friends and relatives.

In a box, there are 8 pieces of the salted egg pineapple tart. The size of the pineapple tarts are relatively big, compared to the pineapple tarts I usually eat. Each pineapple tart has a diameter for around 3 cm.

Now, let's get a bite of it.

The pineapple tarts have a golden orange filling and the amount of the feeling is just right, not too much, not too little. With this amount of filling, the pineapple tarts are enjoyable to eat because we do not feel 'jelak' as what Singaporeans say or 'neg' as what Indonesians say. The 'skin' of the pineapple tarts are also not too thick or too thin.

I can definitely taste and feel the crunchy hazelnut crumbs inside the filling. However, for a salted egg pineapple tart, the salted egg taste is not strong enough. The pineapple and hazelnut taste are more dominant. I personally like this pineapple tart though I do not feel the texture of pineapple which I usually find in other pineapple tarts.

I think the price (SG$20) is reasonable enough for 8 pieces of large pineapple tarts. For the gym-freaks, I do not think that this pineapple tart worth your sweat, blood and tears burning the calories in the gym.

Overall, I give this pineapple tart an okay 6/10. It it worth to try, but not worth to repurchase enough.
